Around 75 per cent of Punjab's 1.76 crore voters had cast their ballots by 5 pm on Monday to pick a new state assembly, while thousands of people were still queued up outside polling booths, a poll official said.
All those in queue at 5 pm would be permitted to cast their votes.
Till 3 pm, nearly 60 per cent voters had cast their ballots.
