I'm so incredibly happy to finally share with you the news that my first DIY book, DIY Fashionistalaunches today! It's been terribly hard to keep such major news to myself for the last 12 months, but I'm such a huge fan of surprises and know it's been worth the wait. The book chronicles me creating the perfect wardrobe using refashioning, studding, beading, dying and a bunch of other sustainably minded and inexpensive processes. It includes 40 of my DIY projects (which are, much like my website, a mix of sewing and non-sewing), how-tos for key techniques such as hand and machine sewing, as well as insider tips on hunting down the perfect materials and how to create the ultimate before & after projects.

Here's an insight into my excitement when I received the first copy! See the leather collar shirt I'm wearing? It's in the book!

For the projects in the book I focused on simple and classic pieces that perfect your wardrobe and stand the test of time, both in a trend sense and also in a physical sense. Amongst the 40 projects you'll find a leather collar denim shirt (ahem... see above), scalloped lace shorts, a super chic feather skirt (I wore it to Sydney Fashion week!), a fringed clutch bag and gorgeous patterned ankle boots. I've also included a bunch of my all time favourite projects from a pair & a spare in the book, including my personal pick - the wrap dress, this time in a subtle leopard print!

DIY Fashionista hits the shelves in the UK today and in Australia in November, but if you simply can't wait to get your hands on a copy, anyone in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD (from Alaska to Zimbabwe) can buy it on Amazon UK HERE. Here's a sneak peek of what you will find in the book!

On a more personal note, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming back time and time again to my blog over the last 3 years. Without your constant support and advice, this website (and now book) wouldn't exist. I've poured my DIY heart and soul into this book over the past 12 months and I must say  it's truly amazing to see my work and words in print (in hardcover no less!). I feel so lucky to be part of such a creative and supporting community of DIYers, thank you so much -  this book is dedicated to you guys!

Stay tuned over the next couple of months for a bunch of fun giveaways, details of the launch party and other events, and of course many many more DIY projects!
